They are a basic hotel - nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. You will be fine.

I've stayed at a couple Hampton Inns and they are fine. Nothing fancy, just basic, clean lodging. The ones I've stayed in have a decent continental breakfast in the mornings.

The issue is not if "they" are nice. The issue is if that one is nice & the answer is I don't know. Would you cancel if I said no? Sorry if I sound harsh. I don't understand why you're asking. Look on tripadvisor.com. There's 1 review that says the front desk person was rude.

To answer your Hampton Inn question "Are they nice hotels?" my answer is YES, they are. I find them acceptable to better than acceptable on a consistent basis. There are always going to be sample exceptions, but usually the manager on duty at Hampton or one of the other national chains will do what he or she can to redress the problem.

When I select a motel that is a member of a national chain, I do so because I have had good experiences with that chain in the past. Therefore I think my chances are very high that I will again find a good place to sleep.

The management of national chain motels works at keeping quality consistent. There are inspections and training courses to teach the staff how to market and maintain the product.

I think Hampton Inn are a cut-above for their price range. Stayed in them in Charleston, Asheville, Elkin (NC), and other places, and have never found them less than excellent value for the money, always exceed what I expected. I highly recommend them, from my own experience.

I don't know if there is more than one Hampton Inn in Harrisburg...but we stayed at one during a move a few years ago and it was great. We arrived very late, with small children and the desk clerk brought us some of the breakfast foods. It was about 11pm and he must have seen the kids were tired and hungry. When we left the next day, several hours later we realized we forgot to load one of our bags into our vehicle, so we called from several hours away and they had it and sent it to our new address for me. I honestly could not ask for a better experience! Oh, and yes the room was very clean and nice.
