Halloween on Kauai

13 days to go! We'll be on Kauai during Halloween and was wondering if anything special is going on? Any haunted houses on the island? Lots of trick-or-treating?

You might already be aware that Halloween on Maui is a top-notch event. Is this possible for your tour?

There are usually a couple of haunted house fundraiser locations on our island -- but none have been announced yet.

Last year, all of the shopping centers (whether arge or small) offered "safe trick or treating" for kids, having them go from business to business to get their goodies.

Every year, the number of trick or treaters going door-to-door in our neighborhood, has dropped considerably. Last year we weren't home, but neighbors said they only had 3 groups come by.

auntiemaria - I hate to see the "trick or treating" in neighborhoods dropping off like that. I enjoy seeing the kids in costume coming to my door! We barely had any trick-or-treaters here in my area of Texas last year too.

I will be in Kauai but returning home on Halloween day. So it was interesting to see what events Kauai might have going on for me too! I saw the other thread about Maui's big Halloween stuff but won't have any time for island-hopping on this trip.

Halloween doesn't see to be a big deal on Kauai like it is in Lahaina or Waikiki. If you are staying on the east side, there is usually a great haunted yard that is visited by hundreds of residents. Turn mauka (towards the mountains) at Haleilio (there is a signal---near the Shell station in Wailua.) Drive about 1/2 mile, it's on the left, you can't miss it if, indeed they are "decorating" again this year.

Happened to find this thread after returning from Kauai over Halloween. Our kids are 8 and 4 and when I called Guest Services at the Sheraton for advice on trick or treating she told us to hit the neighbourhood just east of Weliweli Rd in Koloa. We drove around a bit and found the neighbourhood FULL of kids and Halloween tailgate parties. The houses were decorated, it looked as if there was some kind of pumpkin carving rivalry between neighbours and the smell of the party food drove me crazy. This neighbourhood really knows how to show the kids a great time. It was the best Halloween our kids ever had. Thanks to the nice folks in Koloa.
