Halloween in NYC
Will be in NYC for Halloween. Any special activities or celebrations I should know about?

There is a massive Halloween parade down in the Village every year. It's always a good time -- just be prepared for some very untraditional costumes! Have fun!

Going to be in NYC for Halloween...We will be the Ghostbusters with Slimer and the stay puft marshmallow man with Zule and Gozer the destructor...we will be in the parade but what we really need is information about the biggest badest halloween costume contest in NYC. This is what we go for. We won last year, 1st place and have made even more improvements to costumes this year and need big big prize contest...any help in this search is greatly appreciated...Thank you so much.

Most drinking establishments sponsor one. Look into Bellevue, Coyote Ugly, Doc Holliday's The Library Bar, Who's on First, Vue. The China Club on West 47th Street is offering $500.00 in 3 categories. There's a Halloween Ball in Central Park to benefit the conservancy but tickets start at $600.00. However, Bulgari is presenting the prizes.

We lived in the Village for 2 1/2 months in 2001 & really enjoyed the Halloween parade. It went down 6th Ave. It's VERY crowded so get their early to get a good vantage. I wouldn't recommend it for kids. |
I wouldn't even bother with Coyote Ugly simply because of how small it is! It sounds like the group you will be with in costumes and all will take up almost half the bar, that's how small it is! I would say check out Time Out NY (there's an online edition) or the villeagevoice.com for local contests. I'm sure some of the larger clubs will be having the biggest ones.
