Oh my gosh--you have to go to the parade in Greenwich Village. I don't have the details in front of me, but I believe it goes from about 14th St. to 23rd St. up 6th Avenue and starts around 7 or so. Absolutely wild. Even better is to get into a costume, anything will do, and walk the parade yourself. A riot.

The parade is awesome but is on Halloween. I think you'll be missing a lot of the Halloween events.

Most of the Halloween events in NYC are on Halloween, but you might catch maybe some bars and restaurants having themes the weekend before. I would recommend going to Jekyl and Hyde restaurant on 57th St. if you really want a Halloween theme. As for hotels, I would say maybe the Best Western or most of the hotels in the East or West 30's with generally run about $99 - $150 a night.

Check out www.biddingfortravel.com and bid thru Priceline for a NYC hotel... cheapest way to get a great hotel, the savings are tremendous in NYC.
