I'll trust that Trisha has experienced both. I only saw Seldovia on an overnight excursion and really loved it -- particularly the walk through the "nature" area. We didn't go over to Halibut Cove because we were advised it was much more a " picturesque tourist spot" of recreated stores and shops than a real town.

Oh, I guess I could have added more details. We did the day trip to Halibut Cove from Homer and loved how beautiful it was. There are artist's shops and I thought it was amazing that payment was done through the honor system. In some shops, you leave the amount of the artwork you like in a cup. I still could kick myself in the ...., for not buying this plate I saw over there. My husband talked me out of it because he thought it would break somehow on the way back. I should know better than to listen to him. Also, I had the second best meal I have ever had at the restaurant there. I had barbque smoked salmon with pickled halibut. I think the beauty, shops, and meal made that place. Seldovia I spent the afternoon and liked it okay. I remember taking some nice photos of a church but, nothing special sticks out in my mind. Hope this helps.

I have been to both- different years however. Both worthwhile with Seldovia a sight edge for me. My opinion only.

Thank you for your comments. Budget Queen, can you tell me what you liked about both places and what made Seldovia more appealing to you?
Thanks.
