Half-Price Tickets
What is a good show to see for all ages (15, 21, 52, and 86) that we can get at TCKTS half-price? Musicals/comedies?
Of course I meant on Broadway in NYC.
In alphabetical order:
Chicago 42nd Street Man of La Mancha Phantom of the Opera Thoroughly Modern Millie |
Thanks HowardR! Are these actually half-price at TKTS?
Several of the shows Howard mentions are also available at www.hitshowclub.com
They are half price or close to it, and you can plan ahead and buy tickets without waiting in line. Also try www.playbill.com Both these sites require you to register to get the discounts, but it doesn't cost anything. |
I obviously can't guarantee that they'll be available for the performance you want to attend, but, yes, tickets for these shows are available at TKTS.
I always do what Nikki said. join hitshowclub.com for free and you can get about half off the same shows that are at tkts and there is no waiting in lines.
Theatermania.com and Broadwaybox.com are also good resources for discounted tickets.
Also, I've purchased discounted tickets on ebay.com several times from sellers who may have had to cancel travel plans on short notice. Since tickets are non-refundable, they're happy just to unload them.
Look into the TDF (theatre development fund) website
The advantage of going to the TKTS booth is that tickets are usually the lowest price there.
The advantage of any of the discount websites mentioned is that you can buy them in advance at a discount not quite as great, but you can do it in advance and not wait in line. |
