Half Moon Bay

Hi,
Can anyone suggest Oceanfront Lodging in Half Moon Bay, besides the Ritz Carlton?
Spending one night there, as the last night of our trip.
Thanks

There is a very nice looking small hotel or motel at Miramar Beach. I am trying to find the name for you. I have always thought it would be a great place to try out. Great location. Small coffee shop almost next door, too, and right on the beach.

Thanks...
The Cypress Inn looked nice on there web-site. They are 3 miles from town and I believe on Miramar Beach..

Did you call Sam's Chowder House to find out the name of the hotel next door???

I believe the place next to Sam's is called The Beach House.

The Cypress Inn is the one I am thinking of. Better location than next to Sam's imo.

Thanks for the info...

Yup, I called Sams 9 definetly will have lunch there!!) and the hotel next to it indeed is the Beach House. They have only one room left, non water view. Golf tournament in town.

Will try the Cypress Inn, if not, maybe staying at an Inn won't be too bad, there seems to be alot of them on TA.
Would just like one night on the water while in CA. Can do it here at home, but just not the same while your on vacation..

Sam's is not known for good food - just that it is on the water. It is always busy. There are a couple of fun little places at Princeton by the Sea - just nearby - on the water and also fun. My kids go to Sam's but I really hate the food too much to waste the calories. I guess you can't go too wrong with a burger, though. Always a good default anywhere, right?

I've never tried anything but New England Clam Chowder, and Calamari at Sams. The Chowder is probably the second best I've had in the Bay Area (Tadich is #1), and the calamari is perhaps the best I've tried. My wife & FIL love the Manhattan chowder.

>>Sam's is not known for good food - .......... It is always busy.<<

hey cabo - that almost sounds like a Yogi-ism "nobody goes there anymore 'cause it's too crowded"

I prefer Barbara's Fish Shack for lip-smacking good seafood in that area.

Stu - I was thinking you might notice ;)

Yes. The chowder. I agree.

I agree with iamq on Barbara's Fish Trap. Good and fresh seafood in a fun/ causal setting.

Both sound great..
Maybe we can go to Sams for some Chowder and Calamari and then head to Barbaras for something... Forget the calories intake, its our last day of vacation, I'll run a few extra miles when I get back....
