Half Moom Bay to SFO
 

I'm wondering how long it usually takes to drive from Half Moon Bay to the San Francisco airport. The last time we tried to get to Half Moon Bay there was an accident somewhere ahead of us and it took forever to get out of the mess. We certainly can stay near the airport but it is just not as nice.

But time of day/day of week makes a lot of difference.

Last Sunday afternoon it took us 30 minutes to get to the airport from Half Moom Bay. We were running late, due to a crowded restaurant on Mother's Day, so if there had been a problem on the freeway we would have missed our flight. If you allow extra time you should be fine.

Guess that should be Moon.

We've driven to HMB perhaps close to 50-75 times. Worst is on a sunny warm weekend, when everyone (it seems) wants to go there. Usually going from HMB east is not as bad. On non-work days, you might get behind a truck because the waste disposal area is along 92 & Waste Management trucks go there all the time. But again, heading east is not so bad. There are mulitple passing lanes going east, which makes the traffic flow much better. Don't remember ever hitting real bad traffic going east - guess we've been lucky avoiding traffic accidents.

We'll actually be traveling on a Wednesday morning so we won't hit the leisure travelers. I guess it would be wise to build in extra travel time just in case.It is so much more enjoyable than staying near the airport.
