Hacienda Hotel Santa Fe or Inn of Governors??

We are planning a five day trip in late March and are having a difficult time deciding between the Inn of the Governors or the Hacienda at Hotel Santa Fe. We are aware of the slight difference in distance to the Plaza. Any other considerations or advice to help us make a choice? Thanks

We stayed at the Inn of Governors several years ago and loved it. It is not fancy, but nice. The breakfast was wonderful-one of the best we have ever had at a hotel. It was an easy walk to the Plaza and restaurants. We were celebrating our anniversary while we were there and they gave us a bottle of wine and two glasses with the Inn of Governors emblem and we still enjoy using the glasses. Enjoy Santa Fe.

The Inn of the Governors is more like a motor inn/ motel with great location. Hacienda is a hotel, more high end but is further from Plaza.

For location I would take Inn of the Governors in a fireplace room. The smaller rooms are alright but not a favorite.

I haven't stayed at Hacienda but we checked it out one visit. Very new and nice but I don't like where it is as it's just a few steps away from where I would want to be for that price.

Just to throw this in the mix have you looked at El Farolitos, Inn on the Alameda or Inn of the Five Graces? All of those are loaded with charm and very good locations.

I'm not familar with the Hacienda but have stayed at the Inn of the Governors on many occasions and plan to do so again in the next few weeks. DebitNM is correct in saying that it is a motor inn/motel but don't let that description put you off. The rooms are very nice and well decorated and the larger ones have wood burning fireplaces. They also offer afternoon tea/sherry and cookies in the lobby, free of course. As already mentioned, they serve an excellent breakfast.

My husband and I stayed in the Hacienda at Hotel Santa Fe. It was beautiful with wonderful service. We really felt like we were somewhere special. There is a great restaurant on premises, and a lovely little pool.
The drawback, of course, is that it's not in town. However, their shuttle service into town was always very prompt so we'd get wherever we wanted to go fairly quickly. Not quite the same as being able to walk out your door and be in the heart of Sante Fe. But nonetheless, the Hacienda is a lovely place to stay and I do recommend it.
Have a wonderful trip!!!
