H & M - San Francisco

Does anyone know if either of the H & M locations planned for San Francisco are open yet? And if one is open, I'd really appreciate knowing the location. Thanks in advance!

I live near SF. What's an "H & M"?

cigalechanta Oct 15th, 2005 05:32 PM

it's a Swede run chain that has an almost weekly changeover of inexpensive trendy style duds for both sexes. We have one in Boston.

MelissaHI Oct 15th, 2005 05:37 PM

It's not even listed on their website. California is not listed on their website!

spiral, here what I found for you, it seems delayed due to bad shape of the proposed building:

Hi everyone - thanks for your replies so far. I did check the H & M website and didn't see it there either. I thought maybe they hadn't updated it or something since one will (supposedly) be opening in Minnesota (where I live) in a few or several months. Thanks again for the help, I hope the SF store opens relatively soon.

Interesting....never heard of it...will look forward to its SF inaguration...

The locations were always busy in Paris.

p.s. I LOVE H+M! I first read about it as my niece and I were flying to Vienna. Needless to say, we went crazy in the store.

Every city I've been to with an H+M is always busy. I've learned that I need to go first thing in the morning and not hesitate about buying what I like, or by lunchtime it's gone!!

The most recent San Francisco magazine said both would be opening in November. I can't wait!

sea_urchin Oct 28th, 2005 12:07 PM

According to a kiosk display on Montgomery Street in downtown San Francisco, the two new H&M store locations will be opening November 18th, at 150 Powell Street and 150 Post Street.

See ya there!

FainaAgain Oct 28th, 2005 12:13 PM

The one on Post is not opened yet, so it this morning while on the way to work. And tried to remember who mentioned this store, maybe somebody at work :)

If I see it open, I'll post.

Sea Urchin, do you live in SF? Or visiting?

Advertising has been popping up on Market Street. For those in the know - do they only sell women's clothes or is the stuff for the guys too?

cigalechanta Oct 29th, 2005 12:44 PM

here in Boston, there is a Men's section. The sizes do not go beyond a certain waist as I recall after trying to buy somethings for someone.

"..one will (supposedly) be opening in Minnesota (where I live) in a few or several months."

The one in the Mall of America IS open. It's been open for about a month. Happy shopping!

I'm so excited about this store! My flatmate told me about it about a month ago and I've been desperately trying to find out information about it. Every time I'm in the UK I always make a special trip to H&M (maybe even multiple times!)

I always forget to look downtown when I'm going through so I'm glad to hear more information!

cigalechanta Nov 1st, 2005 05:30 PM

There will be a second one opening in Boston on Boylston St.

styelers Nov 13th, 2005 08:23 PM

It is set to open November 19! This Saturday, I'm looking forward to being there this weekend. They have specials for opening day! It will be on 150 Powell.

LoveItaly Nov 13th, 2005 09:18 PM

Pretty sure the store on Post St. is opening the same day as the Powell St. store. Have fun!!

Skye168 Nov 14th, 2005 01:32 PM

Does anyone know which store is going to be larger-- the one on Post or Powell?

Thanks!

razzledazzle Nov 14th, 2005 01:39 PM

Powell will be larger-it adds cosmetics. http://www.hm.com/us/hm/store/

Yes - H & M (Hennes & Mauritz) is now open. Their website is painfully out of date. (So sad in this day and age don't you think?) But have no fear, here are all the details.

H&M locations
150 Powell St., San Francisco, (415) 986-4215. (women's basics and fashion, teens', men's, cosmetics, lingerie)
150 Post St., San Francisco (415) 986-0156. (women's basics, teens', lingerie)
Store hours for both: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Mon,-Sat.; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sun.

Yes they have a catalog, yes the lines are always long, yes you should go check it out if you haven't been to one before.

Go early in the morning, go on Tuesdays, and if you see something you love get it, it won't be there in a week. Want more info? Here's the link to the story (and there was a follow up with photos from the grand opening) at SFGate.com. Happy shopping!

I just went to the H+M in Chicago and boy!...a lot of the stuff in there was expensive. The American H+M is not as cheap as the European version, not by a long shot!
