Guy restaurants in Orange County
Attending a convention in Anaheim, I need some great steakhouse and Italian reataurant suggestions in the Orange County area. Thanks in advance.....
|
I am not too sure how far you are willing to drive but my favorite steakhouse, that I know is a guy place,is the Trabuco Oaks Steakhouse in Trabuco, California. I am not that good with mileage but I think it is 30 miles from Anaheim. It is located in Southern Orange County and Anaheim is in East Orange County.

Kinda far away.....
Anyone know of anything closer to Anaheim? Thanks...... |
I don't know if it would really be classified as a steakhouse, but Mr Stox has been around for years and is just down the street from the Disneyland area. It is fairly upscale and has great food. They have a website that gives a good idea of what is like: http://www.mrstox.com/location.html I like it because it isn't a chain that you see in every big city on every business trip. For an informal really fun Italian place I would go to Angelo and Vinci's in downtown Fullerton. It is about a 15 minute drive from Anaheim and in the old downtown area that has been revitalized. Their website is http://www.angelosandvincis.com/
It is a crazy, fun place, nothing fancy but good food and an atmosphere unlike most Italian chain places. |
Thanks Mary, I will check those out....

Trabuco Oaks is such a treat. In no way convenient to Anaheim, but worth it. We used to go there when it was out in the middle of nowhere! Now it's practically in Mission Viejo!

If you don't want to drive to Trabuco Oaks, I will second the recommendations from Mary2go. Mr Stox is a very good restaurant-I was actually surprised to find one with this quality close to Disneyland. Angelo and Vinci's is fun for the atmosphere.

Looks like Mr. Stox is my choice, their website is most convincing! Trabuco Oaks reminds me of a steakhouse near Phoenix where they also cut off your tie.
Thanks to all.... |
Here is another vote for Stox. In Anaheim, it should be close to you. The lobster bisque is incredible. Great baked breads and impressive wine list as well.
You can also try The Catch in Anaheim (across from Angel Stadium). Although it is more of a seafood place, you can get some good steaks there as well. Finally, Another choice would be Catal in Downtown Disney. Stox and Catal are a little more upscale. The Catch is less formal. For italian food, it depends on how far you want to travel. Mama Cozza's is an old fave but it is not as good as it used to be. Very casual, it is also in Anaheim. For something more upscale, you would have to travel out of the Anaheim area (toward the beach is your best bet). Maggiano's in Costa Mesa is a great spot but there are several others. If you want to go north, in Downtown Brea there is Market City Grill. Downtown Brea is a nice place to walk around, shop and/or catch a movie. Brea would be about a 20 min drive. Good luck/ |
I forgot to mention one place: ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney. I must admit I had a surprisingly good steak there. It is VERY crowded and pretty noisy but you did say you anted a "guy place" right?

Thanks for all the suggestions; Mr. Stox is indeed popular and was totally booked between 5.30 and 9PM on Saturday! We settled on Tutto Mares in Newport Beach - pricey but worth it, I hope!
