Gulf Shores lodging

Thinking about a spring break visit to gulf shores last week of March. Anyone have a recommended place to stay or rented something on VRBO. Any area in particular to stay in? We don't want to be in the middle of commercial craziness - rather low key accommadations but now too far from civilization. THANKS

We like the Fort Morgan area since it is somewhat isolated and can be easily reached by the Dauphine Island ferry (we drive over from Baton Rouge). However, properties may be limited since spring break is right around the corner.

Thanks for the info! Where do you stay? COndo or house?

We rented a house last summer directly through a friend here. It was several blocks off the beach but very close to the neighborhood community pool and tennis courts. Very nice large house with 4 bedrooms/3 baths - great for entertaining. Google Fort Morgan, Alabama realty companies and I'm sure you will find some options.

I really enjoyed Perdido Beach Resort. I don't like renting condo's. On vacation I like someone else to cook and clean up.

lke has the right idea!:-D Perdido Beach Resort is an awesome place to stay. Like DownSouth, we like condos in the Fort Morgan area. The Beach Club is our favorite. Good luck!

We like Perdido Beach Resort as well, but....years ago, we stayed at the AL State Park. It's lakeside, but not far from the beach and definitely 'low ley'.

We had small children then, and we loved it! Lots of State Park activities for the kiddies available ( which we adults enjoyed as well! ).
