Gulf Shores Dining
 

We will be spending 4 nights in Gulf Shores, Alabama in mid-April. We love seafood, but cannot eat fried. Does anyone have suggestions we should try?

It's been quite a few years since we've been there. But from what I can remember - fried, fried, fried. Not much "good/fresh" food in the area.

I'd be sceptical that some of the above are even open!!
But here are two that had ads this Sun--King Neptune and Gulf Bay featuring broiled Tilapia and lemon tomato grouper.

I visit the Gulf Shores area several times per year. There are several good seafood restaurants in the area. My two favorites are (1) Oyster Bar in Perdido Key, FL (only 10 to 15 minutes away from Gulf Shores), and (2)Mango's (in Orange Beach). Unfortunately, the Oyster Bar is closed due to Ivan. Another good option is Voyager Restaurant at the Perdido Beach Resort. This place specializes in Gulf Coast creole gourmet cuisine. The restaurant is NOT closed due to Ivan.

The 3 aforementioned restaurants are generally considered to be the best restaurants in the area.

The Original Oyster House in Gulf Shores is a solid, safe choice. It's certainly not as upscale as the 3 restaurants that I mentioned above, yet I've never been unhappy with the food. see www.originaloysterhouse.com

Two other options to consider are: Bayside Grill (specializing in creole & carribean cuisine) and Zeke's.

Since you don't like fried seafood, you need to avoid the following places: Doc's / Hazels / Bubbas / Sea-N-Suds / Crab Trap.

Most restaurants are open. Tacky Jacks being one of them - very good. I've heard that the Shrimp Basket is, too.

Looks like 2bamafan covered it pretty well!

We frequent Zeke's a couple times/year and I never eat fried there! Also, the OYHouse (a plate of O-Bienville and O-Rockefeller was VERY tasty when I was there last July!)

Another good boiled shrimp place ( and other stuff too), Live Bait Restaurant (they also have a live music area). They cater my husband's annual meeting at Perdido, and everyone has been so pleased, we've continued using them!

Jimmy Buffet's sis's new place on the International Waterway was also good, but seemed alittle more "busy" and loud (has sand toys/playground for the young)
... the name escapes me at the present!

I've only eaten at the Voyager once. They have more than seafood...I had duck. It was all very delicious and great service! A french flair. Reservations requested.

There is one more place ...Lagniappe. Across the street from Perdido Beach Resort. It was also wonderful! ( And they say I'm hard to please...Ha! :) ).Belle.

Jimmy Buffets sister's place is LuLu's and is great fun-especially during the day! 2bamafans was right on the money!

The Original Oyster House is always good and we've eaten at Cotton's on our last 2 trips and the food was great both times. Most restaurants offer steamed, broiled or grilled options. We've not been since Ivan so not sure either of these 2 are open.

"sun place else 2" has good food. They are on the road headed out towards Fort Morgan which is just up the road from Gulf Shores. So many places have been wiped out from Ivan down there. It is hard to find anywhere to eat. We used to eat at a hole-in-the-wall pizza place. All that is left of it is one wall. Very depressing. However, the sun place else has lots of broiled, grilled and baked items. Many of which are stuffed or served with interesting sauces. Very reasonably priced too.
