Gulf Coast (NOLA - Sarasota FL) in Oct.

Jump to last reply

We are driving round trip between NOLA and Sarasota at the end of Oct. Would like to make one or two stops (nights) each way. (And we will spend some days in NOLA & Sarasota.)

I read some discussions in the forum. Depends on the time of the year, a numbers of places are suggested for a stop: Mobile, Orange Beach, Florida Panhandle, Biloxi, and Bay St. Louis. Would like to get some help to narrow down the choices for Oct., and get recommendation on dinning/lodging/sightseeing.

In general, we don't like chains, unless it is a local chain, say a restaurant has three locations in the area - not the country.

We love to eat. Seafood sounds good. But we don't plan to splurg.

We love B&B for the local connection, as well as affordable eco-friendly or boutique hotels.

This will be our first time in the Gulf. We live on the west coast. So it would be interesting to explore the cultural difference. Any cultural sites we should visit, other than the beaches?

Thanks!
