Guide Books for Big Island?
 

Hello. My husband and I are going to be on the Big Island of Hawaii from August 31-September 9. We will be staying 7 nights on the Kona side, 1 night in Volcano and 1 night in Hilo. I am looking for good tour books specifically for the Big Island. I already have Fodors Hawaii. We like to hike, snorkel, lay on the beach and take in cultural sites like museums, historic homes, etc. <BR> <BR>Also, we have all of our reservations except Hilo. Has anyone stayed at the Hale Kai B&B in Hilo? <BR> <BR>Thanks for your help!

My husband and I had fun with Ultimate Hawaii, which is a little more local and opinionated than some of the others. It has directions to off-the-beaten-track beaches.

Hi Daria - 2 other books I am finding useful are Hawaii Revealed and Travel Smart - Hawaii - both excellent resources. I leave for my third trip to the BI a week from Sunday and I can't wait to get back there. You'll love it! Enjoy!

Not sure why you are spending so much time in Kona best landscape is towards the Volcano. Check out Waipio Valley.

The one I've seen mentioned over & over is "Big Island Revealed". Definitely get that one. I bought "Maui Rvealed" or my sister & it was fabulous.
