Ground Transportation from Longwood FL to MCO
Can anyone recommend ground transportation [taxi, shuttle] from Longwood to MCO? Approximate cost too, if you have an idea.
Thanks Deb |

Deb-
I am inclined to agree. I can't think of another option. |
I have another thought, Deb.
I see, from a previous post, that you are coming to Central FL sometime in mid-April and flying home on Sunday 4/20. I believe you have a quick flight to FLL during the middle of this time period and need a way to get to and from Longwood to the airport. Did I get that right? Have you considered two separate car rentals, broken by your overnight trip to FLL? So, when you need to travel from Longwood to MCO, you would simply return your rental car, and when you arrive back at MCO, you would pick up another for the balance of your visit here. I have had good luck with Thrifty just north of the airport (on Semoran Blvd/SR 436) and find that their airport shuttles are always just a few minutes' wait, at most. It's just a thought. |
That would be a great plan Vic, but DH is staying in Longwood while I do the one day get away to FLL. He is there to visit his mom and I am going to FLL to visit with my brother for the one day mid-trip thing, so DH will need the car.
Our original plan was that DH would simply drive me to airport on Friday and pick me up on Sunday. Unfortunately, unknown to us when I made the reservations to FLL, his mom has a dr. appointment Friday morning that he is going to need attend. Her appointment is at 10 am and my flight is at Noon. Had I known, I would have taken the 8 am flight instead. Now, it would be $60 to change ticket plus $30 for change in fare. Thanks for the great idea though! Deb |
O.K. Why not have DH drop you off at the Holiday Inn Select ORLANDO-INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT <http://tinyurl.com/6lebvd> (about 1/2-3/4 mile north of the airport on Semoran Blvd/SR 436 at 9 A.M. and then procede with his mother to her medical appointment? He could reach any point in Longwood or elsewhere in Seminole County by 10 A.M. easily.
You could then have a leisurely breakfast at the hotel and then take their free shuttle over to the airport. It would be a lot cheaper than a taxi and less time consuming too. |
"take their free shuttle over to the airport. "How can I do that - isn't it for hotel guests only? Won't I be asked for a room number or something?
Even so, it is a $5 taxi fee from there, which might make this a good idea all around. Thanks,Vic. Deb |

I doubt that you'll be asked for a room number. Anyway, you will be a hotel "customer". Just ask. Remember, If you don't ask, you don't get. Regarding the taxi fare, It shouldn't be very much. Call the hotel front desk. They should know, or will suggest that you take their free shuttle instead. Either way, this is a lot cheaper and easier than taking a taxi from Longwood. Good luck. -Vic |
Another suggestion is just to get to the airport early.
If your husband drops you off about 9 am.he will make it to the Dr. appt. in Longwood by 10 am. I know most people hate hanging out at airports but they do have some nice shops to stroll around and a big food court in the main terminal. I really like to people watch at airports so that passes the time also. |
I always go to the airport early as DH works right next to it and needs to go to work. I just relax with a coffee of the day Grande and relax. I hate to feel rushed! You honestly can never assume the airport will be crowded or not..you just never know!

Vic,
I am really liking your idea; now I just need some Orlando Fodorites to meet me for breakfast and we can have a GTG!! Deb |
