Grocery Store on the way to DC?

Hi. We will be driving into DC on Wed. afternoon from Monticello via 95 then 395. We would like to stop at a grocery store on the way before we arrive at our downtown hotel (and give up our rental car.) Does anyone know of a decent grocery store not too far out from DC that would be easy to get to and also fairly close so that cold things won't spoil?? I've seen on this board that there really aren't any grocery stores downtown except for CV Pharmacies.

Thanks for your input.

There's a Harris Teeter at Pentagon Rowe, near Pentagon City. Right off 295. You could jump back on the highway and be in the city in like 5 minutes

Exit 8C (Army Navy Drive) off of I-395 (not 295) for Harris Teeter's in Arlington.

Have you done a search around the area that you are staying? I use the map function on Yahoo and this let's you select things like grocery stores, restaurants etc to see if there are any close. I know there are some in DC esp in the Wisconsin Ave area.
Alternatively, use the same function and do a search off the route you'll be taking into town.

There is a downtown grocery store on P St. NW between 14th abd 15 th - Whole Foods. They have free parking in their garage. Depending on where your hotel is, it might even be walking distance.
