Grocery store on our way from Tampa to Siesta Key?

Good afternoon! I have a question about where to shop for groceries. We are arriving at Tampa Airport and driving to Siesta Key. We would like to shop for groceries on our way to the condo since we will be arriving several hours earlier than our check-in allows. So, my question is: Is there a grocery store that would be somewhere en route, or is there a large one in Siesta Key or a neighboring area? As always, your replies are most welcome and appreciated.

Are you taking 275 and 75? If so, then what?

There are grocery stores across the bridge on Clark. Several Publix stores.

Yes, 275 to I75, exiting at Highway 72, which I believe heads right into Siesta Key.
vjpblovesitaly: Highway 72 is the same as Clark Road?
Thanks

bluejeans, once you head over the bridge from Sarasota onto the key you'll hit St. Armand's Circle (a very nice shopping and dining area). If you bear right (north) off of the circle it will take you over another bridge to Long Boat Key. Stay on that main road for a mile or two (if memory serves), and you'll find a very nice Publix store on the right.

Route 301, which will intersect aith Clark Rd. will take you directly to Siesta Key, has a Publix market, and an Albertson's Market before you get to the bridge to the Key.
There is also a Whole Foods in Sarasota, on Lemon, just off Main. There are many markets, and a wonderful Farmers Market that shouldn't be missed in Sarasota downtown on Saturdays.

capecodshanty, Albertson's is closing in Naples -- Publix bought them out (and I'm in mourning). Is that happening in Sarasota too?

Oops, sorry. Only missed it by one island, though.

There is also a very good specialty food shop, Morton's, on Osprey in Sarasota. Lot's of prepared foods and the best wine selection I've found in the area.

http://www.mortonsmarket.com/

Not more than a mile or two off the route to Siesta Key.

Hi Neo,
I didn't know that!! S'what happens when you're just down there for a month's stay.
I really liked Albertsons too- and there's the "Sweet" something market also, though not very good, I felt.
Morton's is excellent- almost forgot that market, they closed their other store this past winter.
