Groceries in Key West
Does anyone know where I can pick up a few snacks and drinks in KW? I am looking to get chips/pretzels/Oreo Double Stuf(!!!!) and bottled water/pop. Will be there for 5 days and would like to have a few snacks and such in the room. Thanks!

Fausto's at 522 Fleming Street, about 2 blocks in off Duval is great for snacks including gourmet stuff (regular snacks too), beer & wine.
We got provisions there for afternoon snacks several days including cheeses & crackers, olives, etc. |
Waterfront Market down by the Bight area. Its a nice grocery store that also has a good deli in the back where you can just grab a sandwich from.
Have fun.......Eat Grouper/Mahi at B.O.'s across from West Marine. You won't regret it! |
Plenty of places for that sort of stuff...CVS, Excerd, Circle K as well as a bunch of smaller places near the harbor. Bigger grocery stores on your way into Old Town.
|
Where will you be staying? I only ask because there might be something just around the corner.
|
We will be staying at Douglas House (Amelia/Duval area). How far is Fausto's from here? Are there any stores for this stuff near this B&B? Thanks!
|
You are just a short step from Duval. When you hit Duval, make a left and go up a block and you will see a Circle K. They shoulf have most of what you need. Everything else will be a hike. Another option is (if you have a car) just to stop at one of the grocery stores on your way in to Old Town. There is an Albertsons, Winn Dixey and a Publix.

Thats a map of Key West. There are 2 Flemings on the island. One is at Fleming and Bahama, the 2nd is at White and Eliza. Waterfront Market is at William and Caroline. The major markets are out on North Roosevelt. |
That should say 2 Fausto's not 2 Flemings.
|
There is also an Eckerds on Truman between Duval and Simonton. There is also a wine bar/store about a block from you, right before Circle K.
|
Go to the Walgreens at 527 Duval Street but take a copy of the See Key West Magazine. On page 51 there is a coupon for $3.00 off a $10.00 purchase, excluding beer. This is one of the best deals for misc snacks in Key West.

thanks for the help! I thought I would have to put an order in thru Fausto's, but we can just carry a few bags home from Walgreen's.
|
Another nice thing about Fausto's is that they deliver. Google and find the website and it will explain more.
Be careful with the Walgreens on Duval. It seems to be turning more and more into a t-shirt shop (and an overpriced one at that!) |
Fausto's is a grocery store. You just walk in and shop just like any other.
Their website may make it look like you need to put an order in, but that is more likely for catering or deliveries. |
If you are driving down, stop at a Publix before you get out of Miami/FLL, buy a cheap cooler and stock up.
Or you can stop at Publix on Roosevelt. If you are flying in, Fausto's. |
I just did a store locator for CVS, Walgreen's, and Eckerds. The closest one to Douglas House looks like CVS. It looks close to Truman/Duval. I did check out the order list at Faustos. Thanks! We just want to have some wet goods and snacks in the room to nibble on. We will not have a car since we are flying right into KW. We'll take a taxi from the airport to DH. I assume that should run around $10 (total for 2 people). Does that sound right or will it be more?
|
CVS is where the Ekerds is on Truman that I mentioned above. I forgot it changed to a CVS a while back. Its really your best bet. I know the Circle K will have chips and sodas/waters but I am not sure they would have something as specific as double stuff oreos.
I think the cab fare will be a bit more. They have set fares for driving to different areas of Key West from the airport but I don't know the rates. |
Unless this has gone up because of the price of gas, it's generally $7.50 / person (+tip) to take a cab from the airport. I don't think it matters where you are going.
Try to find a Maxi Taxi or a pink van and chat up the driver. Ask where the good places are to eat. They will have sometimes give out coupons for free drinks or appitizers. Take a business card as they will sometimes give you a discount for the return trip. Pjk |
LOL! My DH just remembered we paid $15 for the two of us, plus tip, to get a Pink Taxi from the airport to a B&B in Old Town. So the above poster must be right.....7.50 a person from the airport.

Well, at least I know what to prepare for as far as the cost for a taxi ride. What is a normal tip? $1 pp?? From where we will be staying (Duval/Amelia Sts.) how long of a walk to Mallory Square? As I have previously posted, this trip is a surprise for my husband. He will be getting all the brochures/confirmations next weekend. I am chomping at the bit to spill the beans, but I have to wait until next weekend. I am giving it to him as anniversary getaway. The first trip WITHOUT kids. Woohoo!!
|
We always tip 20%, especially if the driver was nice and helpful.
You are about 12 blocks from Mallory Square but there are lots of sites and shops in between. This is a website showing Duval Street. http://www.seefloridaonline.com/duval/ |
Whattayamean "must know what he's talking about?" Sheesh.
8-) Here, try this. Look at the driver's id tag in the van. If you get Ben he doesn't even take tips. He's retired and drives one of the vans to just to keep busy. He takes the fares but that's it. He gave me a bunch of coupons but also turned me on to Danger Charters and Nancy's Secret Garden, two places which don't advertise much and which those "Bob ina box" people don't sell tickets for. I'll be there 11/19 - 11/26. Anybody else? I usually have a happy hour drink at Kelly's or the Duval Beach Club or the Rooftop Cafe. Pjk |
