GRNAD MAYAN&PLAYA DEL CARMEN INFO
 

We are going to the Grand Mayan December 18th for a week. Does anyone know of this place? have any info? Also, what is Playa Del Carmen like? is it sleezy like Cancun or can you have a mellow time and do nice thigs (go to a beach and have a drink, nice restaurants etc).
Have not been to that area in about 15 years and then was only in Cancun. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

The PDC area has undergone quite a rebirth iver the last few years and is a great place for walking along the beautiful beach and stopping for lunch or drinks.

There are loads of excellent restaurants in all price ranges and cuisine types.

As an aside, Cancun really is not sleazy, (at least not in the last 10 years or so that I've been going imho)and some of the top resorts in Mexico can be found there.

We were in PDC in April and I love the area. Agree with Diana about the playa website, I found a wealth of information there.

Stayed at the Royal Hideaway in Playa del Carmen in March. Would definitely recommend it if your looking for a quieter area.
