Greenville, SC, the new Charleston

I have plugged Greenville, SC, as a destination here fairly frequently.

It has a great economy, easy access to the mountains, and one of the great rejuvenated downtown success stories.

The New York Times has recognized this in their 2017 list of places to visit in the next year:

They also recognize Birmingham, AL, for those who want to take a Southern trip that is more than Asheville, Nashville, Memphis and NO.

In fact, these cities are part of a worldwide list of places not to miss. I have authority now, as well as experience on which to base my claims!

I like Greenville SC. I visit there several times a year to visit my parents, brother and his family. Very nice downtown area.

Friends of mine from NYC bought a house here about three years ago with intention of retiring there in next few years. Meanwhile they rent it out. I've been reading more and more about the virtues of this city, with a large international population.

The fact that Sean Brock opened a branch of HUSK there must signify some interest on the food scene...this article predates that opening by three years..

I was in Greenville for a day last year and was very impressed. I could easily retire there. It's a very nice small city with a good vibe, a nice Sat farmers market and a great small art museum.
