Greenville, SC

Planning a short trip in mid June. Staying at the Hyatt Regency. I am looking for recommendations on
a. Restaurants. We love farm to table, vegetarian or fish restaurants, relatively quiet atmosphere. Prefer local operations.
b. Bike trails. Any great off road trails( not mountain biking) which are not too heavily used by pedestrians?
c. Shopping: Adult women's clothing, non chain.
d. Great ice cream or gelato.

Thank you!

If you stay at the Hyatt downtown, you will be in the midst of many restaurants, all locally owned, though vegetarian? maybe not. I would say perhaps twenty choices between your hotel and the baseball stadium. I have never had a bad meal in Greenville. I can't tell you names of restaurants because I just follow my brother in law.

There are paths along the Reedy River, which is crossed by Main Street, in both directions, IIRC, in the park. Biking there s likely.

I don't know about women's shopping -- didn't notice -- but I don't recall any chains. There were plenty of craft/jewelry boutiques, and Greenville is home to the last remaining branch of Rush Wilson, the preppiest men's store (Southern preppy) anywhere.

Have you been to the art museum and the Wyeth part. I have been trying to get there for years.

As Ack said, lots of restaurants outside your door in the cute downtown area. It's been a few years ago but the tapas restaurant was great. The sushi restaurant, less so. It's fun to look for the bronze mice hidden around - from the children's book. There is an absolutely delightful barkery you will love. I bought some cute eyelet shoes from my aunt at their Mast General store - but that's not much do an attraction for you from NC. I still walk around every MG store I see. The Wyeth museum is great. Enjoy your trip!

The restaurant you want is American Grocery. Everything you're looking for except maybe quiet on weekends - maybe they're less busy on weekdays. Make reservations.
