Are green head flies a problem in bar harbor and quoddy area in Maine in early august, late july along the coast?

Wow, this has been up since March and no one has answered your question. I'll answer.

Yes, sometimes. I guess it may have to do with the type of winter and spring we get. They can be horid. Sometimes we call them horse flies. They can take a bite out of you through you t-shirt and leave a stream of blood running down your back. The good thing: they don't like bug spray.

If you leave the window of your car open a crack, expect them to gather inside the car and not be able to find their way out and attack you when you return, not a nice experience.
