Greenbriar or Homestead

My mom and my sisters are considering a spa weekend in March to either the Greenbriar or The Homestead. We want pampering, good food, relaxing atmosphere and a little shopping. Anyone have suggestions as to which one. We are from NC so if you can recommend somewhere else instead, we'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

This question was asked twice earlier this year.
The Homestead won by a landslide.
Too many thumbs down on the 'attitude' at the Greenbrier.

I have stayed at both, and liked both very much. I think the Greenbrier is more scenic, but you can't go wrongf with either. Take a trail ride on horseback, very nice.

Dear Ruby,

I've just been to the Greenbrier this past May for my parent's 50th anniversary and our entire party of 10 were sorely disappointed. The hotel itself is dated in appearance, but most importantly, for the price you pay you are NOT getting a top notch resort experience. We had a nightmarish dinner at their exclusive Tavern Wine Cellar that I can't even recount the details because they so botched our service. Suffice it to say, if others are recommending The Homestead, I'd go there until the Greenbrier gets it's act together.
