Green Valley Tucson

I am looking for a nice place in the Green Valley area to stay. The kids will stay at Grammy and Grampa's snowbird condo in Green Valley so DH and I don't want to be too far. We can get the Holiday Inn Express but since we're w/o kids something more romantic would be great. Any suggestions?

It's about 15 minutes from Green Valley but my husband and I loved Mi Gatita B&B in Sahuarita, about 15 mintes south of Tucson. Jean and Bentley Pace are the most wonderful hosts and the guest rooms (in their own building) are simply wonderful. I'm pretty sure their website is tucsonbirdinginn.com but I'm sure a search for Mi Gatita will also get you to the right place.

You might want to consider Tubac Golf Resort. They are in a great area between Green Valley and Nogales. It has been years since we stayed there, but it is fairly secluded and romantic. Here is their website

Hi Birdie,
I was just going to recommend the Tubac Golf Resort when I just read MikepinTucson post. I must agree. Spouse and I spent a few nights at this nice, quiet resort right after Thanksgiving, last November. We stayed in a casita room w/beehive fireplace, king size bed, jacuzzi tub in bath. (Romantic, yes.) The rooms are dec. in a southwestern theme, what else. There are about 3 restaurants on the property to chose from; one right on the golf course. We want to go back!
Regards, Francie

Thank you all for your replies. Both places sound wonderful but it looks like we're going to have to settle for the HI express. We don't want to be too far from my parents during this very quick trip. We will keep Tubac and Mi Gatita in mind for what will surely be return visits.

I am hoping to get some bird watching in and have visited Mike's blog. I would like to get some additional restaurant recommendations for the Green Valley area. Is Tubac worth going out to for dinner? How about Mexican? I can't go to Tucson without having Mexican food.
Thank you.

If you want something a little nicer than the HI - The Inn at San Ignacio http://www.innatsanignacio.com/
is a great spot for something a little more romantic. It is right in Green Valley so you would be close.

As for Mexican you can't beat Manuel's (In Green VAlley) great food excellent prices. They don't take reservations though. It isn't romantic but the decor and food really authentic.

Hi Birdie,

If you have visited my blog, you know some of my favorite Mexican restaurants. These are just off the freeway, downtown and south of downtown.

El Charro, for the carne seca. http://www.elcharrocafe.com/index.asp
