Greek Restaurants in Queens?

Looking for good Greek restaurant in Astoria and how to get there from mid-town Manhattan

Take the N,W train to Astoria Boulevard from Times Square.

Of course you can originate other places than Times Square. Herald Square, 49th Street, 57 Street, 59th Street, etc. Check a map for the N & W trains and board at the most convenient location, Queens bound for Astoria.

Waiting with you mummy8. I went over the bridge last August on the same quest. I have lived in NYC for about 17 years with a 3 year stint away. Queens use to be a great Greek community but it has changed significantly. I am sorry to say many of the Greeks have moved out.

There are still some desert shops that are great for atmosphere (Greek) but they are costly and few. I think I paid 6-7dollars for a piece of Katifi (sp)and coffee last August. I got to sit amongst a group of Greek men....whahoo. Not sure it is worth it though and I live here. If you walk along the main drag and anyone on the subway can direct you, you will hit this cafe. Huge sidewalk seating.

There are still Greek restaurants and we found one but it was not great but we were there around noon and did not have access to the entire menu. Sorry no name or location to refer. They had a Greek night on Wednesday though complete with plate breaking. Something to seek out if you are coming for the experience. What I always do in NYC is check out Zagat's. There are plenty of Greek tavernas right in town (Manhattan). There is also a book called Best Ethnic Eating in New York City by Robert Sietsema. Well what do you know I just took a peak and found the name of the place I mentioned with Greek night. The book gives this place a high mark. It is a Cyprus Restaurant but "the constituency" is mainly Greek. Well I am going to book for that Greek night. I always wanted to go back for it but just put it off. Very easy to stay in the neighborhoods you know best in Manhattan. Thank's for the nudge mummy. Just don't know that Queens promises what it use to. Perhaps I am wrong, can anyone else help here?
