I'll probably get dissed on this one, but......I've never rented a car in Las Vegas-----not a NYC vibe, but lots of food choices, shopping (good and not so good), people-watching.....and fun!

Thanks for all of the advice. I'm leaning towards Chicago or New Orleans. Would 4 days in either city be too much? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Been to both and I think 4 days would be just right. Chicago may offer more in the way of museums, and baseball season will be starting. Be sure to also go to Second City Comedy Club and a blues club. (Not sure what time of year activites on the Navy Pier pick up, but it's a fun place to stroll around in nicer weather.) New Orleans has some fun activites in addition to what's going on in the downtown area and French Quarter, i.e., I really enjoyed the swamp tour we went on. The plantation tours are also good. Both have fabulous restaurants to pick from. You can't go wrong with either choice ... both are great cities to visit ... toss a coin!

1. Chicago
2. San Francisco
3. New Orleans
In that order.
