Great rural towns in NJ?

Anyone have any recommendations for towns in northern NJ that are a bit more rural than the average town? We'd like to move next year becauase we're sick of our neighbors and would love to live in a town where you have more privacy and open area (and the houses are set futher apart).

Thanks!

You're not looking far enough west.

Try western Pennsylvania.

You don't need to go to western PA to get homes that are spaced further apart. In Upper Bucks County, PA (north of Doylestown), there are plenty of homes like that - if you've got the money. There's still farm country up there surrounding some small towns, just west of the Delaware River.

Vernon, perhaps...

What about Warwick, NY...

Look on Coldwell Banker & check out the price range (because Jersey is crazy expensive!) Where are you living now?

Hunterdon County! The western side of NJ is spread out and gorgeous, but you can still get to the usual conveniences (malls, grocery stores, Wawas) within 15 minutes.

If you have lots of money: Far Hills, Long Valley, Bernardsville, Basking Ridge, Tewksbury

What size lot are you looking for? In many suburban (not rural) NJ towns throughout the entire state (those without city water/sewer) 1acre lots are standard by zoning regulation.

If by rural you mean 2-5 acre lots that's a different story.
