Great restaurants neat Irvine CA *help*

Hi,
I am going to L.A this weekend to see my parents. We are staying in Irving for one night before we head down to San Diego. We are looking for a fabulous fine dining restaurant that is near Irving or north of Irvine a bit. Looking for great atmosphere and delicious food. Does anyone have any suggestions??

Thank you.

my favorite Irvine restaurant is Il Fornaio. Always seems to be good & reliable.
Bistango is also close by; it has very good American cuisine in a nice setting.
Both of these places are just off the 405 freeway.

I'm from Chicago but travel often to Irvine on business. Bistango's nice, very good food. For a great atmosphere though, you must check out Chat Noir (the black cat), a very chic and cozy French bistro with awesome food and drinks, as well as a great lounge and patio with live music. My team loved that I took them there. It's actually in Costa Mesa, which is right next to Irvine.

I love the way Chat Noir looks. That may be the winner!

TravelDiva,
I just wanted to say we had a wonderful dinner at Chat Noir. The bar area was so great with the live jazz, fun drink menu and great atmosphere. The bar waitresses we pretty dippy but it did not take away from an amazing night! Thanks for the suggestion.
