There's lots of places, depending on type of food you like and price range. If you narrow it down, I'll give you some ideas.

depends on time you are talking, lots of the restaurants in that area on a Sunday night will close a little early.

Try www.chowhound.com for more info and probably hours for restaurants in teh area. You also might get a copy of Zagat's.

That said, our favorite restaurant in the area is Pomodoro's which is on Columbus at 71st. Really good italian and great service and well priced.

Have a great time.

I still think Cafe des Artistes is wonderful for after Lincoln Center. One night we were there Beverly Sills and Itzak Perlman (I'm sure that's spelled wrong) were at one table and Madelaine Albright was holding court at another table. Our service was superb, the food wonderful, and the setting is hard to beat.

I still love Cafe des Artistes. You'll find no place more lovely. Think fin de siecle Paris.

You gave no direction on what kind of place you want. Cafe is continental, elegant, very sexy and lush. There are lots of restaurants around the center.

If you have a desire to be very very chic, you could try Jean Georges. Very contemporary, very french, very good and cheaper than the big name french places.

Chinese restaurant: Shung Lee (sp?) is very good and expensive for Chinese (per a friend, I've not been). It is elegant, not a hole in the wall Chinese.

Shun Lee is wonderful for upscale Chinese.

I also like Gabriel's on 60th street. It is Italian and delicious, with wonderful service. Not quite as frenetic as some of the other places around Lincoln Center (although they will get you to curtain if you come in before the theatre and tell them you have tix).

Fiorello's is always a favorite, but I find it noisy and a little rushed. Also Italian.

There is also Cafe Luxembourg.

All of these choices are elegant and upscale, but not as upscale or expensive as Cafe des Artistes.

Thanks for the help!
Cafe des Artistes sounds wonderful.

Happy Holidays!

Another good restaurant up the street from Lincoln Center that has been garnering a lot of praise is Compass on 70th Street. French-inspired cuisine, sophisticated setting, impeccable service, but pricey. They also offer a $30 3-course dinner that is one of those inside secrets that is an amazing bargain. But make sure you make reservations well in advance, it's a hot place!
