Great Pools - Where?

My husband is a pool person as opposed to a beach person. I was trying to find some nice hotels/resorts that are known for their great pools. Either one amazing pool or maybe large pool complexes. Any advice? We're looking within the US - preferably East Coast.

Westin Diplomat Hollywood Beach Florida.

When you say "large pool complexes", do you mean like a water park? Tho' I haven't been myself, I've been told that Wisconsin Dells has several hotels with water parks. A couple of years ago, we stayed at an Econolodge just off of I 90 near Erie, PA. There was a hotel with a waterpark at the same exit. Must be many others throughout the country but those are the only ones I've encountered.

The pool at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables Fl. is supposedly the largest hotel pool in the USA, but that's it's only noteworthy feature. The hotel is gorgeous & the city makes for a nice getaway.
The Fontainebleau Hilton on Miami Beach, has two pools situated on a lagoon-style rock grotto pool. However the hotel rooms are pretty outdated.
The Sheraton Bal Harbour has a lagoon-style pool with Jacuzzis and a waterslide. And is right across the street from Bal Harbour shops.

This is the description from the Westin Diplomat resort and spa - 'relax by the outdoor bridged pool with infinity edge, see-through bottom and waterfalls flowing into the 240-ft. lagoon pool below.' I haven't been there but it's the newest of all the properties. Keep in mind however, that the beach at the Diplomat has all but disappeared due to erosion. Even though you mention your husband is a pool person, you may be shocked to check into a beach hotel w/o a beach. Good luck to you. !

Hands down, the Biltmore in Coral Gables (Miami). The pool is not only the largest hotel pool in the U.S., it's also gorgeous and on beautiful grounds. The hotel itself is a jewel in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Miami. It has the best sunday brunch in South Florida (which is saying something). And you're close enough to Miracle Mile, South Beach, Bayside, and Coconut Grove to enjoy the abundance of excellent restaurants and night life.

The clincher (for a pool person): The Biltmore is very close to the Venetian Pool, considered to be the most beautiful public swimming pool in the U.S. Throw away all preconceptions of public swimming pools, check it out on the web.

At the Biltmore in Coral Gables they have little cabana tents you can rent that are next to the pool. Very chi-chi. You can do the wild thing in there and nobody will know \:D/
