Great place near downtown LA for lunch

I will be in LA this week and plan to meet a friend for lunch. I need something close to the hotel, the Millenium Biltmore.
Looking for wonderful Nouveau California cuisine... somewhere with fresh and healthy options. Price is not a concern.
Thanks, in advance!!!

Cafe Pinot is nearby--right in front of the LA Public Library.

I've been for dinner--it's a nice place. Try to sit out on the patio.

Another thought is the Water Grill right on Grand-if you go to citysearch.com for los angeles and search on the hotel-you can locate restaurants and sort by the rankings and see all the most highly rankly restaurants nearby.....but if you are seafood/fish lovers the Water Gril is really excellent especially if price is taken out of the equation :)

sorry that should read "ranked".......I must train myself to push that edit button!

If the Biltomore is the same hotel I think it is, you can get a great lunch right there.

No need to leave.

Stayed at the Biltmore three weeks ago. There is a sushi bar in the hotel that looked good.
My wife and I ate at The Water Grill, just a few steps from the hotel. We had a wonderful meal and a great time.
Wonderfully fresh and wide choice of seafood. My wife esp. enjoyed the hamachi. Expensive.

Thanks for the help! I love visiting LA... shopping and excellent restaurants, beaches and hills.
I usually don't stay downtown but my meeting is there so I am planning on a quick stop by Santee Alley, a good lunch and then off to my meetings.

Hey Logandog, I had a look at the Water Grill menu... it looks FABULOUS!
Damn expensive for lunch.
We may try to figure out a way to swing it, though.

Cafe Pinot and the Water Grill are both good choices. The Water Grill is on the same block, if not in the same building, as the Millenium Biltmore.

The Patina restaurant has moved to its new home at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. We had dinner there recently, and the food is to die for. (Cafe Pinot is a PatinaGroup restaurant.)
