Kathie, Il Terrazzo added a new street-front somewhat more casual cafe recently called Intermezzo that is getting great remarks.

Our current favorite in Portland is Ataula (Spanish tapas). They don't take reservations for small parties, but if you go early (when they open), you will most likely get a seat.
Other places we like are Langbaan (Thai), Roe (seafood), and Natural Selections (beautiful vegetarian). All three would require reservations far in advance. Any of the Bamboo Sushi restaurants are good. Lovely's 50/50 and Apizza Scholls are very good pizza. I think you can make reservations at Apizza Scholls. We also like Ava Gene's and Renata's for Italian. If you think you want to go to Pok Pok, but don't want the crowds, a good alternative would be to get appetizers (wings) and drinks at Whiskey Soda lounge, then go down the street to eat noodles at Sen Yai. Both are run by Andy Ricker. Little Big Burger (fast food) has a good veggie burger and very good truffle fries. We send boxes of their spicy ketchup to friends and relatives back East. Salt and Straw (ice-cream) and Blue Star donuts are also family favorites. In Vancouver, Vij's is great for Indian. Again, you'd have to be in line before they open. We also liked Revel (Korean) in Seattle. |

Excellent - I didn't know this! I can't wait for DD and her family to return to Portland so I can start back again checking out all the super cool restaurants. |

We enjoyed the following in Vancouver: on Robson St- CinCin(Italian) and Chongquing((Chinese)
Loved Rodney's Oyster House. In West Vancouver, for beautiful views back to the city and harbors, The Salmon House. Best salmon we've ever eaten. |
