Thanks for the link. Most of the history I knew, but there were some interesting bits here. As a corporate "working stiff" who lives in the area, I never felt quite comfortable in the neighborhood, nor like it was a neighborhood, but you can't beat the proximity to CP and "dropping into" the Met is a casual thing for me that I take for granted.

Scarlett, we were neighbors. I lived on 61st and Lex. for years and just recently moved.

Were you living there when the mad doctor blew up his brownstone?

My grandmother lived at 85th and Park Avenue.

I was laughing at the article because I am related to Mrs. Astor--she is distant cousin. I thought it was funny when they said she would "plotz" if she knew her house was torn down to build a synogogue.
