Grassy Key Stay -White Sands Inn?

HI...I am going to Marathon, specifically the Grassy Keys in mid february. I booked 3 nights at the White SAnds inn..it seems like a nice, small mom and pop type place..and i got the room with the 3 picture windows overlooking the ocean from the sleeping area. Anyone have any feedback on this?? Also, any travel information you have would be nice; i have checked all the websites, and gotten some brochures..but nothing like someone who has been there. For instance..who has the best seafood? the best key lime pie? tidbits like that...thanks!

Sandy

Stayed several time in Grassy Key. White Sands I hear is good. We stay at Bone Fish Resort. The reason for this is that they have free passes to the Key Colony Beach Club, one of the few places with beach access in Marathon. The bigger rooms at Bone Fish Resort are nice and it's on the water. They have a hot tub right on the water which is great.
The Grassy Key Dairy Bar has the best food on the island. The name is misleading. It's not a dairy bar, but a seafood restaurant.
If you're into snorkeling, try the Glass Bottom Boat. You can try Hookah diving. It's like snorkeling but you have an air hose that let's stay underwater like scuba. They're out of a hotel on Grassy Key. Check out their web site.
There's not much night life in Grassy Key/Marathon. If you're looking for relaxation, it's great. You're close enough to KW if you need nightlife.
Also, if you want to rent a boat Captain Pip's has very nice boats and will give you detailed directions to different sights on the water. Last time my wife and I took a boat to a deserted island a couple miles off of the seven-mile bridge. We were the only ones out there. It was great.
Hope this helps a little. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail us.
Have fun.

Thanks for the information; I may take you up on emailing for more information as time grows nearer. That is exactly what we want...some rest and relaxation.

Eat at Herbies in Marathon. Located on the gulf side after the Marathon airport. Does not look like much from the outside, just a shack almost. Best local food around. Beats the dairy bar by a long shot. Also, take note, the no-see-ums (very small bugs) can be relentess at times. Enjoy the Keys.
