Grandfather Mountain trip - place to stay with young kids?

Hello,

Want to go there next week and want to stay at a kid friendly location. Even if we rent someplace, want it to be nice but ok for kids. Can anyone tell me of places they stayed at with their kids and what they thought of it? My kids are 4 and 2 yrs old.

Thanks,

D.

What are you doing besides going to Grandfather Mtn? On the Grandfather Mtn website they have lodging in the immediate area. Boone is the largest closest town besides heading down the mtn to Lenoir/Hickory.

There are a lot of cabins for rent in that area, and that would be an ideal solution for you. And, since it's between the traditional fall leaf season and ski season, it's a great time of year to rent. Check out logcabinrentals.com, jenkinsrentals.com, and of course vrbo.com.

Thanks for the quick replies. I did get a bit overwhelmed by all the choices and wanted a heads up on some of the places we could consider...we are planning to see Grandfather Mountain and do some basic sighstseeing, not too much into hikes, more like scenic beauty.

Might be nice to find a place with an indoor pool. I wonder if the Tweetsie Railroad is still operating that time of year? Blowing Rock would be a nice town to walk around in - also close to Boone and Grandfather mtn.

Tweetsie Railroad is closed for the season. Still, it's a great area to visit, even with kids, especially during the quiet time of year.
