Grand Wailea taken over by Hilton

Just heard today that Hilton is taking over management of the Grand Wailea, Arizona Biltmore, La Quinta, under their Waldorf brand

Anyone have any other news on this or what it will mean for the Grand Wailea?

I heard it from a friend who lives in Maui and has many friends that work at the Grand Wailea and they were just told last night about it

I read about this in this mornings paper as well.

The new name sounds very fancy though..not just the Waldorf, but "Waldorf- Astoria". ;-)

Hilton will manage it, so guess it will be more like the Hilton Hawaiian Village and Hilton Waikoloa? Although theu're all family type hotels so it shouldn't be that big of a change.

This should make HHonors members ecstatic , and the GW is far better than any Starwood property on Maui #39;(.

I wonder if the GW will eventually be avail on Priceline like the other Hawaiian Hiltons

I hope the change will also mean better poolside service!

The resorts mentioned are currently all under the management of a group called KSL. They also manage the Hotel Del in San Diego and the La Costa Spa in Carlsbad.

Does anybody have info whether the latter will change hands, too?

ooh.. i hope not. The service/food at the Del when we stayed there was really totally impeccable and personal feeling. I wonder if Hilton could keep this standard.

I did some research in the meantime - and it appears that the Del and La Costa will remain in the hands of KSL.
