Grand Teton NP driving at night

We are staying at Signal Mountain Lodge in Grand Teton National Park. Our flight times have been changed and our flight now leaves Jackson Hole Airport at 7am at the end of September (it was previously 1pm!).

How long will it take to drive down from Signal Mountain Lodge in the dark? And how difficult is it? I am wondering about whether we should stay somewhere nearer the airport on that last night instead.

Any advice welcome.

My first thought would be to stay somewhere in town, walk around and have dinner, and then less hassle in the morning.

Enjoy your stay in the Tetons! Love the area!

It is only a 30 minute drive -- I wouldn't necessarily move but driving down in the dark you do need to be careful of wildlife. Sunrise is approx 7AM so there will a hint of light at 0530-ish

Jackson Hole airport is north of town so you'd same some but not a great deal of time the following morning. If I recall correctly the speed limit drops to 45 mph on 191 at night. You would need to watch for wildlife whichever direction you come from.

you'd save some

It's not a difficult drive from Signal Mountain.

If you have a car rental that will take quite a while.

Many car rentals are in town and they shuttle you to/from the airport. That takes time.
