Grand Teton last minute lodging August

Help! It looks like I will have 3 nights available in Grand Teton area at the beginning of August. Any recommendations for affordable lodging in the area? Lodges in the park are either too expensive or booked. It needs to be clean and comfortable but I'd prefer fewer amenities and possibly a kitchenette for affordability (a cabin would be perfect). Any thoughts on last minute?

I just recently decided to visit the area in late August and found the Kudar Motel in Jackson. The rates are very reasonable for Jackson and the reviews are OK on Trip Advisor. We've booked a small cabin with microwave and fridge. Check Trip Advisor for other suggestions and price ranges.

We looked at the hostel in Jackson Hole. The location is beautiful. We price is good and they have private rooms but we found the room we looked at to be dark because it is wood and decided not to stay. You can check it out at: http://www.thehostel.us/id1.html

Please reconsider your accomodations tekwriter. I have been to Jackson Hole 5-6 times and I stayed one night at "The Kudar". It was the worst place that I have ever stayed. it is cheap, I will grant that and the location is good. That is where the positives end. As i recall, the tv was a 13'' model (I know you are not there to watch tv but it is indicative of the accomodations), the headboard to the bed was a piece of plywood screwed into the wall. No joke! My wife and I had just finished an exhausting hike all day in the mountains and when i took my boots off in our room, I though, "Man my feet really stink". The next day I realized that it wasn't my feet (Ok, well maybe part of it), it was the carpet! It smelled horrible. The shower head broke while we were there and there were random hairs in the shower stall.

Unless they have renovated this place, I would look elsewhere.

By the way, I did not stay in one of the cabins. We were in the motel.

Hi Trent, thanks so much for your comments. Luckily, we did reserve a cabin and "cheap" is going to be important on this trip because DH lost his job. The reviews on Trip Advisor weren't horrible and I think we're pretty flexible and absolutely prepared for "you get what you pay for!" Since we're driving from home, I can bring a set of sheets and towels in case we encounter anything that questionable. I also won't hestitate to speak up when I find something really bad. There just aren't many other economy choices in Jackson so soon beforehand, so I'm going to forge ahead and hold my nose! Thanks, though!

Seriously, the hostel I mentioned above was clean, you might want to check it out.

The Painted Buffalo in Jackson was giving up rooms for $150.00 last week when we were there. Cheaper than anything
I could find and it was a clean, decent place.

Try the Trapper Inn. Its in town and has a kitchenette. We plan to stay there next summer. All the reviews I see are great. Good luck!
