Grand Teton, Jackson Lake Lodge or Colter Bay

We are planning on staying two nights (June 8 and 9) in Grand Teton either at Colter bay or Jackson lodge. They are both running a promo which included breakfast and for the four of us it is $372 for Colter Bay and $445 for Jackson Lake cottages. Which would you choose. Having never been to Grand Teton we are interested in seeing wildlife and scenic photo ops and a nice place to stay, comfy beds and clean. I just was not sure if JLL is worth an extra $60 bucks. Any advice is welcome.

Just to clarify, when I say nice, I just mean decent. I know if will not be fancy which is fine since it is not that kind of vacation.

I stayed at Signal Mtn but none of them are really far apart.

I liked Signal Mtn because it's in the middle and easy to get to the inside or outside roads.

If you're into photography there are a few sights you want to hit with early morning light.

Schwabacher Landing, Mormon Row Barns and Oxbow Bend that's really where the inside and outside roads meet between Colter Bay and Signal Mtn.

We saw a couple of balck bears going up Signal Mtn.

In my opinion Yellowstone is more of an activity park and Grand Tetons has beautiful scenery.

I liked the cabins at Colter. I would have a meal or two in JLL though. The main dining room and then the cafe style in the lower level is cool too. It has a unique counter and both have historical significance. We saw Moose up close at several spots in the Tetons. I think spotting wildlife is luck-I do think being up early and late is best for wildlife.

Even the cabin rooms at Jackson Lake Lodge are not what you'd call luxurious, but the views from the Lodge are spectacular.

For an extra $60 for 4, it's worth it.

Heading south, watch out for the moose crossing. I spent a summer there, and a person in the next dorm room to me had his car totalled by a moose. The moose was OK.

For a great meal, go to Jenny Lake. Not cheap, but usually excellent.

You're early enough in the season to see some great animals. There are great trails for simple day walks from Jenny Lake. You will see your share of wildlife and more.
