well, we are here and it has been GLORIOUS! thanks for all of your help. We have 2 days left and are in West Yellowstone (at the wonderful and decadent Bar N Ranch). We need to be at Jackson Lodge @ 8:15 PM on July 3rd. We have explored the Mammoth Hot Springs, Canyon and Norris areas taking wonderful hikes & walks and seeing a range of wildlife. How should we spend the rest of the time?

You can fill all of one day (or more) at the upper geyser basin area. We hiked in to Lone Star geyser and caught a minor and major eruption. There were only my wife and me there for the minor eruption and only about 10 of us for the major eruption. It erupts about every 3 hours and requires a 2.5 mile walk on a nearly level paved trail. I wasn't sure that it would be worthwhile to go to Biscuit or Black sand geyser basins (very close to the Old Faithful area) but they were sufficiently different that we really enjoyed them. Grand Prismatic spring has it's own turnout and lower geyser basin loop is good too with stops/short hikes.

We hiked up Chittenden road to the top of Mt. Washburn which gave us good views of the entire park area and the surrounding mountain ranges.

The Lamar Valley area is good for wildlife viewing and exiting the park at the northeast entrance through Cooke City gives you access to the Beartooth Highway. Following it all the way to Red Lodge is a BEAUTIFUL DRIVE.

My most memorable experience of Grand Teton was hiking up Cascade Canyon, which includes Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. The scenery gets a lot better and more quiet if you continue a little bit into Cascade Canyon. It is beautiful. My most memorable experience of Yellowstone was hiking Norris Geyser Basin in the morning or hiking down the Uncle Tom Trail into the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

Peterboy,

You photos of Yellowstone were absolutly breathtaking. You have truly captured the beauty of the area!

I am a hobby photographer, who has lived on and off in Jackson Hole... thank you for making me realize how much I really miss living there...

Fabulous!

Back in the 70's my family went camping in Yellowstone and Teton. We enjoyed the sights and some close encounters with nature but by far the most memorable experience was a white water raft trip down the Snake River. It was a heart stopper. We still talk about how we almost lost my then 6 year old brother when the raft nearly folded in half! The guide was amazed we all stayed in the raft. A trip over the "lunch counter" is not to be missed. And we still tease our mother about how she wanted to take the "scenic" trip.
