Grand Hyatt Washington,DC?
We have reservations at the Grand Hyatt, DC for 3 nights - 2 adults and a 12 yr old. Opinions on the hotel? Proximity to main attractions? I understand there is underground access to the Metro. My other choice is the Washington Monarch.
Thanks for any and all help!

Hello,
We just got back from DC and stayed right next door to the Grand Hyatt at the Metro Marriott.

The GHyatt looks very nice. The Metro is right next to the Marriott. Don't know about underground access from the GH.

3 blocks from the Wh House, Ford's Theatre, Old Post Office. Nice location.

We've stayed at the MetMar specifically due to it's location so the GH should be fine.

Thank you, Kal, for your speedy reply! I needed some reassurance about my choice of hotels. It's our first trip and I'd like everything to be pleasant, then plan a return visit!
As an aside, can someone explain why my posted message doesn't appear under the "Washington, DC" topic, only under the "United States" heading? I must've left something out??

Just stayed at the Grand Hyatt at the beginning of July with our 12 year old son. He LOVED the atrium lobby. He actually like looking down on the lobby from our room almost as much as watching TV! It's 10-15 minutes walk or short Metro ride to Smithsonian, etc. Ford's Theater is about 1-2 blocks around the corner from the hotel. Conciege desk (especially Celia) is very helpful on giving directions and telling specifically which direction to head when exiting Metro. Try to upgrade to business plan if you don't already have it. It includes continental breakfast and free use of the health club that adjoins hotel. We really were impressed with the staff and location of the Grand Hyatt.

Also, for the Metro, there is an entrance underneath the lobby.

Thank you, Laura!
We're looking forward to our stay at the Grand Hyatt. I'll check into that business plan upgrade!
