grand haven or saugatuck?

something to think about.....saugatuck has better restaurants (if that is imprt) - and lots of artsy stuff
grand haven is more laid-back, lots of families (though not too much, just an observation)
all of this of course, imho

Have been to both. Saugatuck is much quainter, cuter, and has many more shops, artsy fartsy places, restaurants, and cute places to stay.
Grand Haven has a great beach but the town is not so great and can't hold a candle to Saugatuck.
South Haven, which is in between the two, is also a cute town. Its a good compromise between the two.
Best town: Saugatuck
Best beach: Tie between South Haven and Grand Haven
And just to clarify for the other poster - we are talking about lakeside towns in Western Michigan.

Thanks.just the info I was looking for.
Its just the 2 of us so food and drink is high on the to do list. Nothing fancy....just want to enjoy relaxing after dinner a bit.
