Grand Central to Michaelangelo-cab or subway?

If we go with a cab, which is my first choice, will the van cabs allow five people? If not, I suppose we will need two--any idea on the fare between Grand Central the Michaelangelo?

Any good reason not to walk? It's not that far.

If you'll have luggage, you really need 2 cabs, simple. W/o luggage, walk, subway or maybe crosstown bus on 49 st.

No -

Per T&LC rules NYC cabs are not allowed to carry more than 4 passengers (it doesn't matter if you are willing to squish - it's the driver who gets the fine - I believe now $100 plus).

But the cab fare to the hotel should be minimal - $5/6 - so do that if you have luggage. Otherwise walk. Bus makes no sense - will cost the same as a cab - and you will not be popular trying to bring luggage onto the 49th St Crosstown. (If it's big luggage the driver won;t let you on.)

We walked from Grand Central to the Michaelangelo---it's only a few blocks. We loved the Michaelangelo---beautiful and great location.

Please tell me more about the Michelangelo, thinking of staying there in the fall. What type of room did you have? Any views? Surrounding area? Thanks.
