Grand Canyon. Lodges are full

Driving from Vegas to Nashville in late September and would like 1 day t South Rim. I checked and the day we will be there, all the lodges I checked are full. What are some places close that we might check into. I found Best Western Premier Grand Canyon Squire Inn has that date we need. Any others within close proximity. Thanks in advance for any help

There are many just outside the park . . but do keep checking fir a cancellation every couple of weeks and every day the last two weeks. We booked a hotel in Tusayan but were able to take advantage of a cancellation at El Tovar as we were driving.

Best Western Premier Grand Canyon Squire Inn is an excellent choice with a car. They have huge rooms and a pretty decent Italian restaurant on premises. We usually stay in hotels more upscale than BW, but this one worked out perfectly fine for us.

If calling does not get you a cancellation, check both Tusayan and Cameron Trading Post (on the east side of the park). Make a cancellable reservation and call on the phone as the cancellation do not always make to the web and tend to show up the closer you get to your date.

Check Yavapai as well. It's inside the park but run by a different concessionaire than everything else, so if you've only looked at Xanterra's website it didn't show up.

Otherwise, make a reservation in Tusayan and keep checking every 1-2 days. Something inside the park will open up for sure.

I love Cameron Trading Post but it's on the opposite side from LV. But I do love that place.

Tusayan seems to exist strictly for food/lodging alternatives outside the park. Stayed at the Holiday Inn there which was fine. Another post said it wax 20-25 mins from the park....not so. Wanna say, more like 10. Beware of a steakhouse - Big E's - where they tried to charge $21 for a martini.
Make your reservation early - our Holiday Inn rez increased by $100/nite in the weeks after I booked.

From the 'Park' is not the same as from the GC/Rim . . .

Tusayan to say the visitors center is about 20 mins plus any queue ate the park entrance.
