Grand Canyon from Sedona?

I'm going to Sedona and was wondering if the Grand Canyon is really only a couple hours' drive away. And is that part of the canyon good, or would we have to drive farther to a good overlook? (I know nothing about the Grand Canyon!) Thanks in advance!

Yes, you are only a couple of hours from the South Rim. You might want to go through Oak Creek Canyon on the way from Sedona.

It would definitely be worth it. You would enter the Canyon at the South Rim, the most popular area of the canyon. Your first views will be spectacular. Of course you can drive along the rim to get different prospectives, but it's all very impressive, no matter what your vantage point.

IMHO the area around the Grand Canyon Village at the South Rim visitor center and along the Shuttle bus ride are the best views of the Grand Canyon.

From Sedona it's about a 2 hour and 15 minute ride taking I-70, I-40 to Williams and north on Hwy 64. It's 120 miles one way.

I second the suggestion of driving through Oak Creek Canyon--it's really lovely. Don't miss a daytrip to the Grand Canyon--it's so easy to do from Sedona. Enjoy!

I agree that the Oak Creek Canyon route is beautiful but just be prepared for 10-15 miles of VERY curvy roads in case anyone in your group tends to get car sick!
