Grand Canyon-- cars still allowed?

are cars still allowed to drive along the rim of the GC or do you now need to park and take a shuttle bus for all rim views?

thanks,

During peak visitor months you cannot drive the west rim drive - a shuttle bus leaves from a place near the Bright Angel Lodge. The east rim drive is always open since it leads to the east exit from the Park. Last time I was there (a few years ago) parking space was available at the various viewing points on the east rim drive. Don't know if that is still allowed.
