Grand Canyon
We are going there in March and wondering about the mule rides. We have never been there before so any tips would be great.

Wear a thick coat - it is quite cold and sometimes snowy at that time of year.

trips are 1 or 2 nights at the Phantom Ranch...booked 2 yrs in advance unless lucky to fine a cancellaltion...under 200 lbs and less for the weight....there are day rides....I'd ck b4 counting on any ride..did so at the end of March..cool on top...winter jackets and 80 or so at the bottom..could be snow..cal and make advance plans......don't be disapointed.........

Mule trips sell out months in advance. Make that reservation first, as you don't want to have to change flight or hotel reservations because the mule trips are already fully booked.
For average temps and precipitation in the Canyon for all months, go to www.kaibab.org/gc/misc/gc_wthr.htm Note that the below the rim is considerably warmer than above. If you're changing your elevation by a couple thousand meters, be prepared for major changes in temps. Layering is your best bet. |
