Grand Canyon
Would love advice for a first time visit to The Grand Canyon. I am not a big hiker or adventure seeker. Looking for a nice place to stay in or close by and advice on the best way to see the prettiest sites. Also plan on visiting Bearazona. Thanks so much.

If you click on my profile you can read my trip report - Northern Arizona - Grand Canyon. We used a motel along the old Route 66 in Flagstaff as a base for a week. Also plan on seeing Sedona while in the area.
We enjoyed the Lowell Observatory and the Riordan mansion in Flagstaff. What month are you planning this trip for? How many people and interests? |

I like staying the Cameron Trading Post but the east entrance is closed and the Navajo reservation lands are closed. Is this for 2022 or 2021? |
Here is my TR of a week long trip to the GC/Lake Powell/Bryce/Zion/etc (but no Bearazona which is just an hour south of the South Rim of the GC so easy to fit in)
https://www.fodors.com/community/uni...parks-1660721/ The time of year does make a big difference. |
If you can't find lodging INSIDE the National Park, Williams or Tusayan have motels and hotels. Tusayan is the closest. If you're going to Bearizona, Williams is more convenient. I often will do a night in Williams before, or after. Flagstaff is nice but it's a bit farther from there to Grand Canyon Village than is Williams. Tusayan is only about 15 minutes, the others are an hour to 1.5 hours.
Check the park alerts. Right now the East Entrance is CLOSED due to lockdowns by the Navajo Nation. I've stayed at the Bright Angel Lodge historic rooms (usually sold out and only good for one or two people) and at Maswick (which is currently closed). Those are booked through Xanterra (https://www.grandcanyonlodges.com/) Yavapai is open but their dining is closed. The Deli is open. Book through https://www.visitgrandcanyon.com/yav...e/reservations https://www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvis...lth-update.htm Many of the shuttles are not running. |
