graduation trip suggestions
 

I am just begining to plan a joint graduation trip for my sister and I. I will completing law school in December, and my sister will graduate high school in June '07. (Originally we were supposed to finish at the same time, but I fast tracked it through law school) so now I am thinking the trip will be in late February/early March after I sit for the bar.
This will be a suprise to her, but I just don't really know where an 18 year old girl would like to go with her sister. any sugguestions? When I was her age I ended up going to NYC and WA DC. I know she has shown interest in NYC, but not DC, and she has never been to Hawaii, so that could be an option. I want it to be special, but not in her words "lame." Mexico is out, because I don't want there to be the option of her being able to drink.
Does anyone have any ideas, or where did you/your children/others enjoy as an 18 y/o?

what a great older sister !! I would think she'll be thrilled to go anywhere with you and enjoy a trip.
If she has shown interest in NYC, you won't lack things to do and she will not think it is lame, 18 yr old girl who doesn't like NY ....I think that would be hard to find.

Hawaii is another thing altogether, depends on if you want city, destination w/ beaches, etc - flight times depending on where you are from - would think Hawaii would also amaze her - but again, what do you wnat your days and nights to be most full of?

I think either NYC or Hawaii would be lots of fun. In what part of the country is she living? Would a warm Hawaii vacation just be wonderful change for that time of year?

What a nice thing to do for your sister!!

We actually offered my brother-in-law a trip to anywhere in the continental US for his graduation (HS) present & he chose NYC. As long as you have plenty of time to plan, you might make her the same offer. The answer you get, may be a surprise. I wouldn't worry about the drinking thing. Most kids by that age already have whatever they want, readily available. I'm sure you don't want a Spring Break type of trip, but I would get some input (either directly or indirectly) from her.

How about Miami/South Beach?

No doubt about it... my older teen LOVES London, Paris and NYC.
She has traveled the world with me and she never gets bored of these destinations.

In between the end of classes and law school graduation, a group of friends and I rented a house (with pool) near Disney and lived like we were kids again. It was a lot of fun.

After my husband's law school graduation, we did NYC for a week. NYC can be tough if you're on a budget. Most everything gets pricey quickly.

How about San Francisco if you've both never really been?
